Martin Herrenknecht, founder of the family-owned industrial conglomerate, has taken a firm stance against the municipal traffic calming measures, confirming that his company has removed several of the plant containers. The industrialist maintains that the flower pots pose a safety risk to his employees during their daily commute to work, describing the installations as "a red flag" that cannot be tolerated near his manufacturing facility.

Schwanau's independent mayor Marco Gutmann has expressed willingness to find a compromise solution, noting that several ideas are already under consideration. However, the mayor has also emphasized his responsibility to maintain law and order if negotiations fail to produce results.
