Bavaria Braces for Scorching Weekend with Temperatures Soaring Above 30 Degrees

12-06-2025

As Bavaria prepares for the weekend, meteorologists are forecasting a significant rise in temperatures, with many areas expected to exceed the 30-degree mark. The western parts of Franconia, the Allgäu region, and areas along the Danube in Swabia are particularly highlighted for their potential to experience the highest temperatures. By Saturday, the mercury is predicted to climb even further, with the Untermain area bracing for up to 34 degrees, while the Bavarian Forest might see a slightly milder 28 degrees.

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued warnings about the high risk of UV radiation across the state, with the UV danger index reaching levels eight and nine out of eleven in the coming days. Such intense UV exposure necessitates strict protective measures, including the use of sunscreen, wearing hats, and seeking shade whenever possible. The DWD emphasizes the importance of these precautions to safeguard against the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays.

This heatwave, marking the first significant surge in temperatures this year, coincides with the Pentecost holidays, offering perfect conditions for outdoor activities. However, the DWD cautions against the potential health risks associated with the extreme heat, such as sunstroke and severe sunburn. The UV index is expected to peak at nine, underscoring the need for adequate protection and hydration to mitigate the adverse effects of the scorching weather.

Specific areas like Kitzingen, Aschaffenburg, and Würzburg are anticipated to face the brunt of the heat, with temperatures potentially reaching up to 35 degrees on Saturday. Official heat warnings have been issued for parts of Lower Franconia, effective from Friday between 11 AM and 7 PM. The DWD advises residents and visitors alike to stay informed and take necessary precautions to enjoy the summer weather safely.
