A serious traffic accident involving a heavy goods vehicle has caused major disruptions on the A28 motorway between Delmenhorst and Stuhr in Germany. The incident occurred around 11:10 am when a truck traveling toward Oldenburg collided with the central safety barrier for reasons still under investigation.
The 43-year-old truck driver from Bremen lost control of his unloaded vehicle, first touching the outer barriers before crossing both lanes and breaking through the central divider. The truck then overturned onto the opposite carriageway, blocking all lanes and the hard shoulder in the direction of the Stuhr junction. The trailer remained blocking the left lane toward Oldenburg.
Emergency services from multiple municipalities including Groß Mackenstedt, Brinkum, Fahrenhorst and Delmenhorst responded to the scene. The truck driver sustained serious injuries while a 41-year-old Skoda driver from Sauerland, who collided with the overturned vehicle, suffered minor injuries. Both were treated at the scene and transported to hospitals for further care.
Traffic management has been implemented with vehicles being diverted via a nearby service station. Recovery operations are expected to continue into the evening hours, with full closure required for the truck's removal. Police estimate the damage at approximately €100,000 and anticipate disruptions will persist until early evening as investigations continue.
